When moving to San Antonio in 2019, we were excited for the opportunity to explore a new place together. We had no idea that a W O R L D of food would be waiting in our new city. San Antonio is the place to eat, my sweets. Eat your heart out- deep in the heart of Texas!
*this is an ongoing post- as we will add to it along the way. we have not even scratched the surface on the must eat places here*
Mexi-Texi
We placed a lot of weight on the shoulders of Mexican food in San Antonio. Dreams of taco stands on every corner, the cheesiest enchiladas out there, and salsa fa’ dayz. But……. It has been surprisingly challenging to find “the one” guys!!! Pick your jaw up off the floor- we know it sounds bonkers! I am being totally serious! We have Yelped, Googled, and asked… & we still have yet to find a blow your socks off Mexican joint.
Here is what we have to offer for the present, though, as we continue our search…
Taqueria Tequila Jalisco was one of the first places that we tried after moving to the city. It is right next door to JBSA Lackland, so the convenience factor is there for us! Do not judge a book by its cover on this one– the outside almost looks as if it’s not in business. GO ON IN! The food is more than fair- some would even call it the best for the price! They do charge $1.50 for chips + salsa, but their large portion sizes of food make up for it! The gorditas have been my favorite so far!
Taqueria Datapoint is a close contender for solid, authentic Mexican food! Do note that authentic is a real term here- their food is straight out of abuela’s kitchen! You may need to request a waitress whom speaks English if you are not fluent in Spanish- we love this! Their grande burriots & street tacos are famous, and for good reason! They are delicious! Pricing here is extremely fair! 4063 Medical Drive, San Antonio, TX
Taqueria La Tapatia was a late find and was shockingly on the next street over from our old apartment. TWO YEARS WE HAVE LIVED HERE! Did not try this little gem until the week we were moving out! This place appears to be family owned and operated, and is actually quite delicious. To my Winnsboro, Texas peeps: it reminds me so much of Peraltas food wise! Excellent traditional options and a good array of tex-mex options!!! We love their chips and salsa, and think that their prices are extremely fair! 7891 Culebra Road, San Antonio, TX
Tacos and Chelas is a diamond in the rough! Mexican food? YES. Modified Mexican food? YES. They have house specialties such as their mini taquitos (mini street tacos), and their perfectly made tortas. Not your traditional style because the tortas are made with these delicious, fluffy deli breads! THEY ALSO SERVE EVERY PLATE WITH FRENCH FRIES! DOUBLE WIN! It is seriously good, y’all. *they offer student and military discounts* 9902 Potranco Road, San Antonio, TX
Let me just preface by saying that the Riverwalk is for tourists and visitors. Yes, it is lovely and enjoyable, and definitely unique to our city. BUT… once you live here you are just trying to avoid that area of San Antonio at all costs. The parking is limited, the crowds are packed, and the prices are high. Is it worth it if you are just visiting for the weekend? Absolutely!!!! Is it worth it every weekend? NAHHH. The Riverwalk is home to some more wildly popular Mexican Joints. Rita’s on the River, Cafe Ole…. the list goes on!
Iron Cactus is a more “high end” dine- in Mexican restaurant down on the river. We have gone multiple times, and take our friends/family whom are visiting to eat there! The food is solid, but the real draw is the amazing drinks! If you are at all a tequila drinker this is your place! They are known for their vast selection of tequilas, and Lawd have mercy. Back to the food! Although pricey, I think that the menu offers a good selection. There is outside seating (weather permitting), and I would opt for this when possible! The inside is very, very dimly lit making it almost hard to even read the menu at certain tables. *Make reservations here on the weekends- it gets crazy busy!* 200 Riverwalk Suite 100, San Antonio, TX (210-224-9835)
I am sure that breakfast tacos have been a huge hit since the beginning of time, but I will admit… That prior to moving here, I had never in my life had a Mexican breakfast taco. No clue about a bean and egg on flour, chorizo, or carne guisada. Well, let me tell you that my life is forever changed, because HOLY BREAKFAST TACOS. My heart. They are Heaven.
The Original Donut Shop **sigh** This place tops the charts on the strangest, yet most genius of dining locations I have frequented. Imagine… the best breakfast tacos on homemade tortillas, full of flavor, and made right before your eyes. But wait… You glance over and see… What is that? DONUTS. YES! Donuts! Literally right there in the same restaurant. A one stop shop for tacos and donuts to fulfill your breakfast fantasies. EAT HERE PEOPLE! Grab a coconut donut and a chorizo breakfast taco && let your feet leave the ground. 3307 Fredericksburg Road, San Antonio, TX
BURGERS & FRIES
We have found no shortage of heart stopping (literally clog your arteries) good burgers! Texas can, of course, grill up just about anything and make it delicious… this we know. But— These places stand out far beyond all the rest, and you won’t want to miss them!
Whiskey Cake- PUT THIS ON YOUR MUST EAT WHENEVER VISITING SAN ANTONIO. I admit that it’s a little overdone, and the cloud surrounding the restaurant is hyped up. It is hyped up for good reason, though! This is an ideal place for a date night (I probably would not bring the kiddos here). The setting/decorations alone are enough to keep you glued to the seat. We are frequent visitors, because I literally dream about their chicken & waffles. My husband is addicted to their burgers, though! He says they are among the best that he has had! The whole spread is worth your time! 15900 La Cantera Parkway Ste 21200, San Antonio, TX
Texas Hamburger Company is not anything that stands out on Yelp or even a Google search. We stumbled on it by accident, actually. It’s our favorite. After a bad week at work this is the place to heal your soul- that Southern comfort food! Their menu is ginormous, their quality is on point every single time, and their service is top notch! Cheeseburgers, with home cut fries (sometimes covered in cheese & chili), and fried pickles or fried mushrooms. Throw in a vanilla milkshake for good measure. For my fellow East Texans (this is better than the Hamburger Company in Mineola) IT IS SO GOOD! 9010 Huebner Road, San Antonio, TX
Papa’s Burgers- anyone else a sucker for hole in the wall places? The ones that make you a tad nervous to step out of your car, but that have you skipping back to your car after you’ve eaten? Papa’s Burgers is seriously good. Particularly their housemade buns are unlike any other, and will have you wishing for them every time you have a burger! The service is 5- star. It’s a true-blue San Antonio spot, and we highly recommend visiting! 709 Enrique M Barrera Parkway, San Antonio, TX
Monster Burger… our first place to possibly eat at after moving into our apartment? Anyway, the big draw here is their hilariously quirky menu options! They make some weird shit, guys. Combinations you would never even dream up- or if you have dreamt it up they probably definitely have it! A donut burger for instance! Two glazed donuts on either side of your traditional cheeseburger. YEP! I ate that! Surprisingly, not the worst thing ever, but not my most favorite either… I would not clog my arteries again to consume it (if that makes sense?). Food is well done, environment is definitely strange, but probably will not be going back. 5201 South Flores, San Antonio, TX
Chunky’s Burgers- this place is kind of off the beaten path. We have only visited once, because their reviews raved about their fried mushrooms! Their was live music out on the outdoor patio (loud, rockin’, bumpin’ music), and there was actually a long-ish line to order at the counter. All good things, right?! It was not our favorite meal we have ever eaten, but was not the worst either. This place is known for their ghost burger option, and if you are lucky you might get to witness macho men attempting to choke it down (free entertainment- YES PLEASE)! 4602 Callaghan Road, San Antonio, TX
The Block- I have been in love with the availability of food truck parks around every corner here! The Block is at a great location, the environment is family friendly (&& dog friendly)! They usually have 6-7 food trucks set up (although they may not all be open), a few of which will be burger trucks! Or our personal favorite, the sliders truck! You cannot go wrong here! They have a walk-up bar with sports broadcasts on multiple big screens, kids are usually playing soccer, or cornhole && it’s just a fun time! 14530 Roadrunner Way, San Antonio, TX
Sam’s Burger Joint– I know I talk a lot about location, but location, location, location! Sam’s is in a great part of town, and is within walking distance of a lot of fun stuff! I recommend grabbing a bite to eat here, and then walking with the family over to The Pearl Historic District! Sam’s almost always has someone booked for live music (beware of any cover fees at the door), and the environment is fun & family friendly! We have no complaints on the food! In fact, we would even go as far as recommending it on a visit to the city! 330 East Grayson Street, San Antonio, TX
SEAFOOD & SUSHI
So, this is a newly added section as of June 2021! We are ashamed to admit that we weren’t previously sushi fans, but I had NO clue what I was missing… I am full blown invested in this sushi business now. So, if you love out of this world seafood or sushi- this section is for you!!!
Sapporo Sushi and Asian Fusion– I. Am. Obsessed. Firstly, this place is stunning inside and makes for the perfect date night with your boo! It’s easily the cleanest restaurant I have ever been in. Every time that we go there is usually a bit of a wait, but never more than 30 minutes and it’s totally worth it… Their menu options are fair. I tend to favor your starter sushi rolls?? Fried Californian rolls. Always cooked. Never spicy. Just a good, clean, flavorful roll. My favorite here is the fried Californian roll with extra spicy mayo && a crunchy roll! Nowwww… be advised that they don’t offer fried rice on the menu, just steamed. Kamron- a non sushi eater LOVES their bento boxes. The beef bulgolgi is so yummy it’s unreal! Prices are fair for the value && we have never had a bad experience! 5638 West Hausman Road, San Antonio, TX
Kai Japanese Sushi Restaurant: This is another great sushi option! I will say that this building is an older one, but it passes it’s inspections and I have never had that “eerie” feeling when walking it. You’ll just observe that it’s not modern and updated. Don’t let it deter you. Their sushi rolls are quite delicious! I was surprised to find that they didn’t have your classic sushi rolls, but had more complex rolls! They don’t offer customs or substitutes so if you only eat super simple rolls- this might not be the location for you. I LOVE their couture roll- it’s LARGE. It appears to be pricey & I won’t lie. Their menu prices are markedly higher, but they offer large amounts of food to fill you up. Kamron gets their bento boxes and their sweet n’ sour chicken with fried rice!!! 2535 Northwest Loop 410, San Antonio, TX
SAT Asian Seafood Restaurant and Bar: THIS IS THE REAL WINNER RIGHT HERE!!! It knocks the entire list off, because it’s just THAT freaking good. So good. I think about this place during the day. We found it just a few months ago in 2021, and for good reason because I would be broke AF if I had found it when we first moved to the city… We now drive 45 minutes to eat here, and would do it every day if we could afford. Seafood and Asian food sounds like a strange mix, but it literally works. I get hushpuppies to start. They have a full serviced bar (their beers do come in plastic cups just a heads up), Kam gets egg rolls, I get the crab/ boiled shrimp combos, && Kam gets the fried catfish platter! SO MANY OPTIONS! It is pricey as hell, as seafood often is- but it’s the best thing you’ll ever eat. Their original, mild house sauce is the perfect garlic, butter blend for boiled shrimp- I could literally freaking drink it! YUM! It’s undiscovered, and it’s definitely a hole in the wall from the outside… don’t be fooled. That food SMACKS! 6000 I- 35, San Antonio, TX
Smashin’ Crab- likely whenever you google seafood this is what you’ll get. Listen to me… Don’t waste your time here. We gave it a try and I just cannot. This place is not it. It’s clean enough & there’s nothing outwardly wrong with it other than their food is strange… I got their boiled shrimp combo bag and the boil was literally so gritty I could barely get through the bag. It’s like a dry rub seasoning on it? I have no clue. Enter at your own risk. Not for meeeeeee.
PIZZA MY HEART
My husband will be the first to tell you that I am not big on pizza normally… Maybe it is the heartburn post consumption that haunts me? Either way- it has to be some damn good pizza to make it worth my suffering! Here is what we have found, folks.
Dough Pizzeria Napoletana is in an AWESOME location! We park in the parking lot across the street each time that we are visiting downtown! Dough is a brick oven pizza place, each made to order & in true Neapolitan fashion. It is actually very good, y’all! Do not expect a buffet, or a typical Italian menu with pasta options- because it’s truly a P I Z Z A place. Their appetizers consist of housemade burrata that is out of this world, and your main dish will be enough on its own to fill you up! Their outside seating is nice, and overlooks the garden/park! The whole setting is just complimentary! 518 South Alamo Street, San Antonio, TX
Uh Oh Spaghetti O’s
I never thought I would fall in love with Italian cuisine cooked outside of New York City, but there is a local spot here that gave it a run for its money! I am a sucker carbs, carbs covered in sauce, and tiramisu. YUM!
LU STEPES? Umbertos Italian
Tiu Steppi’s Osteria was another accidental find for us! This is fine dining, and is definitely a date night spot! No need to dress to the nines here, but maybe don’t stroll in in your sweatpants! This food is sooo, sooo, soooo good! The sticker prices are worth it, gentlemen! Treat yo’ self! Pasta Primavera, fettuccine alfredo, and eggplant parmesan (my personal fave)! I don’t think you could even go wrong with anything on this menu! *Note: I am not a wine drinker, but I hear that their wine selection is out of this world* It is on my bucket list to return and eat an entire dish of their vanilla cream brulee! The chocolate cappuccino torte was decadent and one of our favorite desserts to date! 10/10 recommend! 9910 West Loop 1604 North, Suite 123, San Antonio, TX
Umberto’s Italian Grill is a fairly popular location here! Their service is out of this world, even at their peak times! Each table is served complimentary bruschetta and bread with butter! Your choice of soup or salad is served with each entree! Again with the higher than normal price points, but no more than a visit to Olive Garden. Quality, quality, quality! My husband says that their chicken alfredo is some of the best he has had (&& he eats it everywhere). I was mostly along for their desserts, and they did not disappoint. They offer a good selection of homemade sweets, and a classic cannoli is one of them! The only other comparison I have is that of a cannoli from New York City, and Umberto’s is right there with em’! Very good! 7616 Culebra Road, San Antonio, TX
STEAK OUT
If the South cannot properly cook a good slab of meat, than we might as well holster our weapons and take the sidelines. DO NOT FRET! THE SOUTH CAN PROPERLY COOK A GOOD…. possibly even a GREAT slab of meat! San Antonio being home to some of the most delicious! I have a feeling this particular section will have new additions for months to come as we try new locations.
Ichiban Steak and Asian Fusion is perhaps our most favorite, reliable, and most frequented stop to grab a bite to eat. I take that back… not a bite- a 3 course meal that will knock your socks off. Any East Texas peeps a fan of Shoguns?! If so… Ichiban is 50 times better, and half the cost! Offering entrees of steak, shrimp, chicken, or scallops paired with fried rice and steamed veggies. The combinations and options are endless, and you cannot go wrong with any decision! Even their ginormous ramen bowls and noodle combos are top notch. My personal favorite is the hibachi steak and scallop, sub fried rice, with onion soup (did I mention that I dream about their onion soup?), and an appetizer of their fried chicken dumplings. It’s a hole in the wall, but its number one in our hearts! YUM! 8601 Huebner Road, San Antonio, TX
LuLu’s… We get so many questions about LuLu’s. It is highly favored on Pinterest, and raved about on many food networks. I am here to tell you that it is nothing to wait in line for. SORRY! We did the chicken fried steak, we even did the famous THREE pound cinnamon roll. Now- I am not saying that the food is gross by any means. We just think that you could find much better in the city, and save yourself some money at that. LuLu’s is open 24 hours. I rest. 918 North Main Avenue, San Antonio, TX
Whiskey Cake- READ MY REVIEW UP TOP ON THIS GEM! Do yourselves a favor and order a $50.00 steak here. Throw your money at them, because it will be worth it.
BAR-B-Que the Drool
I am not certain of much, but of this I am sure— San Antonio takes the cake for amazing bar-b-que. We have found love at the “happening” spot known by many, and found that homey feeling at a place that probably gets overlooked. We wish everyone could have bits of both places!
Smoke Shack BBQ is another San Antonio love child. Many may recognize this little hub from Guy Fieri’s, ‘Diners, Drive- Ins, and Dives’! He had reason to rave about it, because it surely is pretty damn good. The venue is small, and the seating can be nonexistant with a line out of the door. Do plan to wait a bit at peak times (especially on weekends). *TIP: if you can get to the counter and get your order placed- there is additional seating at the PigPen in their parking lot bar* We usually order the combo platter with the choice of two or three meats & two sides. It’s a LOT of food. Their BBQ is solid (keep reading to find better), it is their sides that really take the prize. That macaroni and their beans are FIREEEEEE! Mmmmm, mmmm, mmmmm! Anywho. This place is worth it. 3714 Broadway Street, San Antonio, TX
B- Daddy’s BBQ! THIS IS OUR FAVORITE PLACE! We realize that it is off the grid. Off the grid meaning that when people are visiting San Antonio they typically stick to the surrounding downtown areas. Helotes is on the out-skirts. *sigh* I can only ensure you that the food, environment, service, and view at B- Daddy’s will be worth your trip *friendly smile* They place music, there is plenty of seating indoor and outdoors, and their outdoor seating is so cozy! They have a big playground for the kiddos. This macaroni is by far the best I have ever had. The BBQ is even better. They just recently got rid of their nachos, which we think was a bad decision. But… their BBQ grilled cheese is making up for it. I personally just stick to my chopped BBQ sandwich- it never, ever disappoints. Take yo’ family here!!! ENJOY! Invite us! 14436 Bandera Road, Helotes, TX
SWEET Child O’ Mine
I admittedly have a sweet tooth. Being extremely picky about textures, flavors, and portions- I am a hard critique on desserts. My husband has to put up with me driving 20 minutes just to try a slice of cake, or grab half a dozen cookies- just to try them out! We may only eat half of what we get if it’s not up to code, or we may inhale the entire lot in the car. Here’s the short list of the “inhale in the car” places to grab sweets! Mmmm, mmmm, mmmm!
Honchos- The House of Churros is my number one thing in San Antonio. This little food truck is our city’s lovechild! Open every evening EXCEPT for Tuesdays (they deserve a day off, okay?). If you’re new to churros in general- we recommend starting with the ‘frozen churro‘ which is a churro on soft-serve vanilla icecream +add a sauce of your fancy on top! OR even an order of the mini churros with multiple sauces to sample! Don’t be shy; they’ll let you try before you buy- don’t have commitment issues 😉 Location: 5800 Babcock Road, San Antonio, TX, 78240
Coco Leche Food Truck- This one deserves a solid paragraph! We discovered this during the height of COVID lockdown in our parking lot at the apartment complex. The came around to our apartment complex one night playing ice-cream truck music, which of course sparks the child in anyone, right?! We literally ran outside in our PJ’s and found our true love. Coco Leche. The owners are THE SWEETEST couple who offer the best customer service I have probably ever seen! In addition to their out of this world treats! It’s like the Texas State Fair at your fingertips *heart eyes* We love their loaded nachos! We SUPER LOVE their signature loaded fried Oreos! Kamron gets the ballpark popsicles in the shapes of ninja turtles & SpongeBob! They have it ALLLLLLLLL! We have admittedly chased them around San Antonio a few times- heehehe! Follow their Facebook page “Coco Leche” and just ask them where they are parked for the night! Location: MOBILE
Lick Honest Ice Creams– I have a worry with dairy products… Let’s just consider me lactose intolerant, okay? I actively choose what is worth the stomach ache && this cute little joint is worth any stomach ache in the world. However, it has surprisingly never given me any issues! I credit this to the organic nature of their ice-creams! If you want house made, fresh, non-artificial flavored ice-creams- COME HERE! I am a sucker for their coconut flavor in a house made waffle cone- UGH YUM! They have so many vegan friendly/gluten- free options that there is no excuse not to visit. Did I mention that it is in the Pearl District which is a friggin’ dream, so you can lick and walk and look!? Location: 2, 312 Pearl Parkway #2101, San Antonio, TX, 78215
Whiskey Cake– Have I talked about this place in every possible food category? Yes. Does it win in every possible food category? Also, yes. This sweetness is in the name itself, and the whole restaurant is based off of CAKE- WHISKEY CAKE. Whiskey Cake is the perfect density, with the richest flavors, with the best cream you have ever tasted, and can come with icecream (10/10 recommend the a la mode). I won’t say more- just go. Eat the cake. Drink the whiskey. Location: 15900 La Cantera Parkway STE 21200, San Antonio, TX, 78256
What’s Kickin’ Chicken?
Chicken is seriously my jam. Not big on the red meats, but chicken is something that can be had breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Fried, baked, grilled, seasoned, plain, with waffles, or covered in gravy... You get the point! My point is… THIS PLACE HAS SOME BOMB ASS CHICKEN GUYS!
NOLA– Chicken and waff….. BEIGNETS!!!!!!!!! The only thing that could possibly be better than chicken and waffles, is some good ole’ NOLA chicken & beignets! NOLA is a brunch spot only open Thursday- Sunday from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. I won’t lie to you: the wait can be gnarly & it’s not uncommon to wait an hour or longer. Not for their lack of trying, it is just a small restaurant. I would never normally say this BUT THE WAIT IS WORTH IT! I have heard people rave about this spot for years, and all of the hype is true. We are frequent visitors and love it each time. YUM. Location: 111 Kings Court, San Antonio, TX, 78212
MASH’d is an all around, any time of day spot, which I appreciate! Located directly across from our other fave place- The Rustic (more on that in a sec.). We have been to MASH’D a hand full of times (mostly to drink), but also for brunch! Brunch is packed full of some good ole’ southern comfort food- including the twisted take on chicken and biscuits with that bomb ass gravy! Such a unique flavor– they really balled out on this dish! We also recommend splurging on their chocolate pudding, because it is decadent. Location: 17623 La Cantera Parkway #107, San Antonio, TX, 78257
The Rustic is home to our favorite bartender EVER- Desiree. She is just precious & makes the most delicious friggin’ amaretto sour on the planet. But like… That isn’t all. They also make this AMAZING drunken chicken (as my mother- in- law calls it), because they sit an entire chicken breast on a can of beer… and it is roasted to perfection and drizzled with an amazing butter sauce. The whole thing is just a mystery. Delicious sober even more delicious drunk- impressive every time! They often sale out on the weekends, because people come from all over to eat it! Y’ALL! Location: 17619 La Cantera Parkway Unit 204, San Antonio, TX, 78257
The Jerk Shack: Pictured above is the magnificence that is Jerk Shack. Now, let me say that this will not be for everyone! This chicken is packed with flavor and has some KICK! Jamaican chicken is so delicious, but is spiceyyyyyyy. I honestly went for the macaroni our first visit, but was pleasantly surprised with the chicken! Perfectly cooked and made to order! There is outdoor seating only, so you would want to go on a cooler day! You’ll be sweatin’ from the seasoning alone! YUM YUM! Location: 117 Matyear Street, San Antonio, TX, 78237
BRUNCH’D
Growing up in smalltown, Northeast Texas I truly never knew there was a concept of brunch outside of chick flicks. It’s real y’all && it’s real serious. Whether you are having a girls weekend getaway, or visiting with the kiddos- these spots will serve you well for breakfast OR lunch- BRUNCH!
Comfort Cafe– I am SUPER proud of this one for many reasons. Listen. It is almost a passion, and we have come to consider this place full of friends. It is hard to explain, but we take EVERYONE who visits us here! It is not something you will come across in “San Antonio Foodie Blogs” but it freaking should. Some would classify it as a “hole in the wall”, but no… It is a hidden gem. This amazing couple started a rehabilitation program for folks needing that safe place to heal and change- a part of their unique rehabilitation program is having their friends work in this precious cafe. Practicing service to others and developing those vital customer service skills. UGH. You will never find better service! Their food is made from scratch, fresh, and made with LOVE. Their menu does not have listed prices- yes, that is right. No prices. It is solely based on donations- so give what you can! (We recommend $10 a plate and any extra change you have). The money goes directly into their rehab program! The menu is INSANE. EVERYTHING IS SO YUMMMY!!!!! Their granola is homemade and like- out of this world. The New York Egg Sandwich is awesome. Blueberry stuffed french toast- the freaking cream. Anything. Just go, please. Then let us know what you think! It is our favorite. ONLY OPEN ON WEEKENDS FOR BRUNCH!!!!! Location: NEW LOCATION
NOLA: Y’all already know I love me some NOLA. Scroll up to read WHYYYY!
Pancake Joe’s is like what we thought IHOP was as 90’s kids, but is still good as an adult. Does that make sense? It is high quality, affordable, always busy, and has that coffee that you need to wake up in the morning! Their menu has soooo many options to choose from! I typically go for the pancakes, because that is kinda their thangggg! If you have a large group wanting breakfast or brunch- this is your spot! Location: 6703 Ingram Road, San Antonio, TX, 78238
The Magnolia Pancake Haus is a big deal down here, and is written about a lot in food blogs! My personal opinion… it is overrated. It has a large dining space which is nice for bigger parties, but there never fails to be an hour wait at any time. The food is good, and their menu has more specially made pancakes than you have ever seen before. BUT I think you would have a more unique experience at Comfort Cafe or Pancake Joe’s! LADIES: I will say if you are a sucker for mimosas– this place takes the cake! Location: 10333 Huebner Road, San Antonio, TX, 78240
Snooze an AM Eatery- I remember when we first moved to the city I was so eager to try this hot spot. Every blog that I read mentioned ‘Snooze an AM Eatery’ and the pictures looked SO blog worthy. Isn’t that usually the case? I feel like a bunch of skinny girls that had never tried grandma’s cooking were raving about this place- because this chunky girl was not that impressed. I did not feel that the customer service was to die for. I did not fancy the hour and a half wait (for the quality). &&& the food didn’t make me giddy. The environment is cute because it’s vintage, but other than that… Give it a go- if you wish, but I don’t think I would go back after the one time. Location: 11255 Huebner Road #100, San Antonio, TX, 78230
Sangria on the Burg- LADIES: This is the spot for those late morning (or early morning) drinks! They have the cutest flights of mixed drinks! Be advised: they’re strong and will have you stumbling up out of there at 11:00 am. Noooo shame! Their sliders are yum, their tacos are more yum, and frito mac n’ cheese is a STAPLE! Their patio has a nice dining area for the pretty days here in our city… Location: 5115 Fredericksburg Road, San Antonio, TX, 78229
